MUSIC VIDEO: DJ KHALED ‘NO NEW FRIENDS’ FEAT. DRAKE, LIL WAYNE, & RICK ROSS

The much anticipated music video offering for DJ Khaled’s single ‘No New Friends’ has finally hit these internet streets. The track accompanied by frequent collaborators Drake, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne, brings us a visual that is a homage to yesteryear, 1996 to be exact.

The crew is dressed in the finest threads of the day, consisting of Dada, Fila, and many variations of baggy denim and sweatsuits. Stylistically, they got it almost all right, with the exception of usage of a Motorola cell-phone from the mid-80s, as opposed to an updated flip model from the mid-90s.

The video is a bit of a homage to rap videos of the 90′s, including vignettes that nod to 2Pac’s ‘I Get Around’, Missy Elliott’s ‘The Rain’ [Supa Dupa Fly], Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s ‘Get Money’, and more. Lil Wayne’s style of dress is a bit of a throwback to his Hot Boyz days, which is fun to see.

Sitting down with the homie Rob Markman over at MTV, Rick Ross speaks on life after being dropped by Reebok.

At the end of the day, once the dust settles we’ll just readdress the situation — once the time is right. As far as myself and Reebok, we got a healthy situation.

It most definitely was a learning situation and just for the little homeys, just something for them to take away. That’s what’s important to me, what they take away from it. After releasing the Rihanna-assisted remix for his hit single, “Bad,” just a little while ago, Wale joins forces with MMG frontman Rick Ross and Lupe Fiasco for a brand new song entilted, “Poor Decisions,” an inspiration track, encouraging his generation to do better.

The new song is set to appear on the upcoming third MMG compilation, Self Made, Vol. 3.

Self Made, Vol. 3 is slated to find it’s way to stores August 6th.
