50 Cent: Cut From A Different Cloth pt.2 (Video)

Having recently made national headlines for awkwardly kissing a Daytona 500 reporter on pit lane, polymath rapper 50 Cent remains focused on driving the success of his many entrepreneurial ventures. The Queens, New York native has been seen tirelessly working to keep his promotional boxing company afloat while his fledgling headphones label, SMS Audio, looks to compete with similarly positioned, rapper-funded brands. However his longtime fans from the days of G-Unit Radio mixtapes couldn’t be less concerned with his recent portfolio expansion as his fifth studio album and its mid 2013 release date is much more exciting. With each minute of his time just as valuable as the next, 50 Cent scheduled a video interview with our sister-site Hypetrak in his Manhattan artist to discuss, among many things, his past, present and future. In Part 1 from last week the rap mogul spoke on his responsibilities at SMS Audio, the difference between this upcoming album and his critically-acclaim debut, as well as today’s artists current fixation with fashion. In Part 2 of Cut From A Different Cloth, 50 speaks on society’s love to see the greats perish, rappers from the digital age and why his projects are now measured against his past efforts rather than the current landscape of music.

Curtis appeared on ESPN’s First Take as today’s special guest and joined the debate desk with Skip Bayless. He spoke on his relationship with Floyd Mayweather and revealed that Mayweather ducked Pacman. Fif also spoke on what boxing could learn from the MMA and his upcoming album, Street King Immortal. UPDATE: Curtis also sat down with ESPN for an off-air interview when he spoke on joining Kendrick Lamar on stage in NYC, his upcoming album Street Immortal, the possibility of a (original) G-Unit reunion and more. Take a look at some quotes after the jump.

And then you roll into New York to jump on stage and sing with Kendrick Lamar.
Hey, I’m active. I’m moving around. For me, it’s all about getting back in motion. I’m getting my feet back into what got me here: music.

How is the latest CD, “Street King Immortal,” coming along? I know you’re still working on it.
At that show with Kendrick, I performed two songs — “We Up” and “Major Distribution.” “We Up” likely will be on my next CD. I’m going to hit the tour after that. Music is the reason I’ve been able to be a part of this brand extension. I turned down some film projects to open time to hit the road. It’s like hitting the restart button.

What about a reunion of G-Unit?
The original G-Unit, maybe. We might do something. I’ll be honest with you. Some of these new artists on the label I don’t think are working as hard as they could. I don’t know how hard they want to work or how much they want it. I could see the original coming back together though.

CONCERT: KENDRICK LAMAR HITS THE STAGE & TURNS UP NEW YORK CITY

February 27, 2013 fresh daily No Comments

Concrete Loop had the opportunity to hit up one of Kendrick Lamar‘s Metro PCS / Hot 97-sponsored shows at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom on Tuesday night (February 26). The 25-year-old gave a simple and light-hypnotizing show, with just a DJ, a mic and high, cool energy to turn up the crowd.

The Compton-native performed a mixture of songs like “Cut You Off (To Grow Closer)” from his mixtape Overly Dedicated to “A.D.H.D.,” an uptempo track off of his first studio album Section.80. He also performed his verse off A$AP Rocky’s single, “F*ckin’ Problems.” But of course, Lamar topped the night off with performances of fan-favorites, “Poetic Justice” and “Swimming Pool (Drank).” Although we attended the first show, Lamar had a second show immediately after where he brought out 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, A$AP Rocky and Schoolboy Q.

Check out the entire concert in the USTREAM video above. If you’re thinking of seeing him live in concert, then it’s definitely worth it. Aside from there being no hype men in sight to annoyingly echo his lyrics, we were more surprised that his set started and ended relatively on time! That could be a first in hip-hop history! Lol Great showmanship, Kendrick Lamar and kudos to you!
