2unes Bio:
With “2unes” as your stage name, and if I were a betting woman, I would put money on the theory that jazz guitarist North Woodall can play his hind parts off. Mmmm, I’m feeling lucky right about now… any takers? On the real tip, my point of view is much more than conjecture. Having sampled the goods, if you will, speculation turns into truth.

Primarily self-taught, it was at the age of eleven that his mom introduced him to the guitar and a love affair with music that has stood the test of time and many challenges was born. In his teens, North studied the playing styles of Ernie Isley, Santana, and Joe Walsh, among others. Hard work, determination, and a natural gift paid off. North began playing R&B, entered several talent shows and, as a result of his burgeoning proficiency with the guitar, he was quickly established with known groups in and around Dayton like The Delvones and Round Trip Ticket.

Mississippi bred and Ohio led, not my words ya’ll, Woodall, followed his internal guide and headed south to Atlanta. There, he continued to hone his skills and his cup over-floweth when opportunities came a-knocking for him to share the stage with his homies, funk masters Lakeside and The Ohio Players, along with Roger Troutman and Zapp, Roy Aires, Millie Jackson, Tom Brown and Will Downing.

And the blessings continued to flow. 2unes has become a staple on the Atlanta music scene appearing in venues from the Ritz Carlton to Wind-Down Wednesdays at Centennial Park, bridging the generation gap with his unique music blend of jazz, R&B, and hip-hop. “I work for the listener and my music is designed for them. It is important to me that I give them what they want.” Woodall went on to say that he defines his musical style as being like a gumbo. “I can’t be put into a box [musically]. I’m not one thing, but many things bringing people together from all sides of the music spectrum.”

Having worked on a variety of projects with local talents like Shorty Red, Roy Rowland and Joseph, 2unes has struck the right chord in a season of his own. In 2005, he released his debut album, Hot & Cool, which captured the essence of musical greats After 7, The Beatles, Mother’s Finest, and the late Luther Vandross in an eclectic mix for groove time alone or to party-hearty. And, in August of 2007, Woodall came straight at you with his sophomore release, Straight @ You. North put new faces on old favorites like Earth Wind and Fire’s Let’s Groove and revealed a piece of himself by contributing five original compositions to this project. Straight @ You has tight arrangements and banging guitar solos with great licks. It doesn’t get any better than that.

And that stage name … “I gave that to myself because I knew so many tunes and never repeated selections during a set.” Hmm, like I said earlier. With a stage name like “2 unes,” whatever the reason, you best believe that the dude can play that there guitar. Bet?

NOFLESH – WHERE WOULD I BE

NOFLESH – The Concept

The concept of NOFLESH suggests that he is a messenger to the masses in varying urban subcultures.  In one rhymes he coined the phrase “Underground Hermeneutics.”  Hermeneutics is the science of interpretation of scripture.  NOFLESH not only is an interpreter of scripture, but an interpreter of the times giving everyday people God’s message of redemption on a level that can be understood clearly.  By reason of his name, NOFLESH’s message is obviously Christian based. However he chooses not to be labeled as a Christian MC but an MC who happens to be a Christian.  The concept of the name NOFLESH speaks of the teachings of the Apostle Paul in the New Testament which state that the believer must die to himself so that the life of Christ can be manifested through him.  Death to self means death to one’s bodily appetites and urges allowing only the human spirit to be influenced by the presence of God.  Essentially NOFLESH is somewhat of a “STREET MYSTIC” who seeks to reach those facets of humanity that are often overlooked or ignored.  With songs like Sometimes, Is it really you, and Surrender, he seeks to be a voice to and for the voiceless.  His music will not only challenge those downtrodden but he will also encourage them to aspire to be everything God has called them to be.

BIO

NOFLESH has been influenced by hip hop culture since he was a teenager and has unashamedly been one of its long time proponents.  Having an undying commitment to lyricism, NOFLESH was influenced by hip hop legends such as Rakim, KRS-1, Kool G Rap, Wutang Clan, and the Notorious B.I.G.  Viewing hip hop as a medium with which to enlighten minds, inspire the soul, and articulate the language of the faith to the masses, it is his intention to reclaim the heart of hip hop culture at its root.    NOFLESH engages his listeners passionately, intellectually, and theologically.  He currently holds a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from BHU in Atlanta GA, studied theology for two years at the ITC in Atlanta GA, and he holds a MTS from LU in Lynchburg VA.   Serving as pastor of his local church, he is indeed in touch with the cries of humanity.  Whether facilitating marriage and family seminars, mentoring at-risk-youth, teaching biblical principles to young college students transitioning into functional adults, he finds his joy in life serving his fellow man.   Being a man of the Christian faith he chooses not to be labeled as a gospel artist but an artist who believes the gospel.

1 Cor. 1:28-29 (KJV)

And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29That no flesh should glory in his presence.

NAPPY ROOTS AND ORGANIZED NOIZE TEAM UP TO CREATE HISTORIC ALBUM

GRAMMY AND AMERICAN MUSIC AWARD NOMINATED RAP GROUP, NAPPY ROOTS, FIND NEW DIRECTION WITH ORGANIZED NOIZE  EXECUTIVE PRODUCING  NEW CD

NEW JOINT VENTURE WITH AVJ RECORDS FOR NEW ALBUM

NAPPY ROOTS IN A CITY NEAR YOU!!  LIST BELOW

For Immediate Release

May 9, 2011

Grammy Award nominated rap group Nappy Roots, the five-man hip hop collective responsible for the multi-platinum smash Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz, is currently at Dungeon East Studios working with the impressive Organized Noize production team on a new CD that will be released on a joint venture with AVJ Records.

Organized Noize is the Atlanta based multi-platinum-selling award-winning trio of Rico Wade, Ray Murray and Sleepy Brown that helped to shape Southern Hip Hop with OutKast’s ground breaking Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik album.   “We’ve been credited with creating the “Sound of the South,” and Nappy Roots is considered the “Conscience of the South,” so it’s great that Nappy wanted to work with us,” says Rico Wade of the Noize team.  “People are going to be impressed by this album.”

The Nappy Roots project marks the first time the trio has worked on an entire album in quite some time. Nappy Roots rapper Skinny DeVille speaks on the excitement. “It’s an honor to be working with legends like Organized Noize. Nappy Roots is a family and Organized Noize is like our older cousins that we haven’t seen in a while, so the [sessions are] like a family reunion. We stayed true to ourselves, but Organized Noize has pushed our limits and taken the music to the next level.”

The new album will be the first Nappy Roots project on AVJ Records, an urban imprint run by Jason “Boogie” Brown and Shannon Houchins of Average Joe Entertainment (Colt Ford, Montgomery Gentry, Corey Smith). Shannon Houchins states, “We’re happy to be partnering up with Nappy Roots on the next stage of their career.  They are an important part of Hip Hop history and we are honored to continue their legacy.”

Nappy Roots – the collective of Fish Scales, Skinny DeVille, B. Stille, Clutch, and Big V. debuted with Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz (Atlantic), the best-selling hip hop album of 2002.  The CD soldthrough 2X Platinum behind the singles “Headz Up,” “Awnaw” (nominated for an MTV Best Video Award) and “Po’ Folks,” which was also a pop hit. “Po’ Folks” nabbed a Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and their DVD, The World According to Nappy, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Long Form Music Video. The album also scored American Music Award nominations for favorite Hip Hop Group and Favorite New Hip-Hop/R&B Artist. Their second album, 2003’s Gold certified Wooden Leather (Atlantic) featured the singles “Roun’ the Globe” and “Sick and Tired” and production work by Kanye West, David Banner and Lil Jon. They dropped The Humdinger on their own Nappy Roots Entertainment Group label in 2008. The album entered Top 10 (#7) on the Billboard “Rap Charts” and Top 20 (#11) on the “Indie Album” chart behind the hits  “Good Day” and “Keep It Real.” Pursuit of Nappiness followed in 2010. It took home a Southern Entertainment Award for Indie Album of the Year in 2011.

The Honors English Project

Honors English is the first artist signed to multi-platinum producer

Needlz production company Dry Rain Entertainment.  Needlz has worked

with artists such as Drake, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Talib Kweli, and Lupe

Fiasco among others.  His production on Bruno Mars’s smash hit “Just

The Way You Are” led to the song being number #1 in seven countries as

well as winning a Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal.  After ten

successful years in the industry Needlz decided to put his stamp on

Hip-Hop by releasing The Honors English Project.

Honors English is a fresh twist on classic hip-hop and is poised to be

one of the most impactful MC’s to arise in years. His upcoming summer

release will be lead by a string of EPs designed to set the tone and

give the listener a glimpse into the album’s soundscape. The Honors

English project will feature some of Needlz best production work to

date.  Each song will be accompanied by ground breaking video’s later

this summer.

Look out for his first single entitled “Flying High” featuring Lupe

Fiasco and TL Cross. “This song emanates from the emotions found in the horns. The mood of the instruments seems to elevate me to a higher place every time they reach my ears. At once smooth and triumphant, this record is a mantra for achievement and inspiration and the core of why I make music” says English. The project promises to stretch hip-hop’s conceptual and sonic boundaries while revitalizing the art of sampling and embracing content that is unapologetically artistic and progressive.
