MOVIE TRAILER: ‘STEEL MAGNOLIAS’ (STARRING QUEEN LATIFAH, PHYLICIA RASHAD & MORE)

Earlier this year, it was announced that an All-African American cast would be remaking the classic 1989 movie, Steel Magnolias; and now a preview trailer drops for our viewing pleasure.

Based in the city of New Orleans, executive producer Queen Latifah plays M’Lynn (originally played by Sally Fields), actress Phylicia Rashad plays Clairee (Olympia Dukakis) and up-and-coming actress Adepero Oduye takes on the role of Annelle (Daryl Hannah)), Clairee’s daughter. Jill Scott plays Truvy (Dolly Parton), Alfre Woodard as Ouiser (Shirley MacLaine) and Condola Rashad as Shelby (Julia Roberts).

Lance Gross, Michael Beasley and Tory Kittles are also reportedly co-starring in the newest Lifetime tearjerker. Steel Magnolias is expected to premiere later this year. Hopefully that’s not too far from now because the 2-minute preview looks pretty good! Watch it below.
